Locals gathered at Dave and Buster's in Pier Park Tuesday night to start the fundraising season off with a bang. The event featured free food and fun and offered plenty of information. Teams also went ahead and signed up early for the main event.

This year's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk is set for October 19 at Aaron Bessant Park in Panama City Beach.

"You're going to run into different people and have different stories and that's very impactful to me. Just meeting all the wonderful people, in all the communities, it's the wonderful people who care about their community and the folks who are in their community that means a great deal to me," said Mel Toran, the American Cancer Society's Executive Director for Northwest Florida.

Our very own Jessica Foster, who is also a breast cancer survivor, is the event chair this year and was the emcee for the kickoff.
