Man arrested after argument over gas pump leaves one with critical injuries

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The Bay County Sheriff's Office responded to a gas station Tuesday morning after receiving reports that there was a physical altercation between two men at a gas pump. When deputies arrived, they say the victim was bleeding and drifting in and out of consciousness. He was taken to the hospital by Bay County EMS.

Witnesses reported the victim and Albert Curley Duhart,44, pulled up to the same gas pump before talking about who was going to use the pump. Witnesses said Duhart chest-bumped the victim, to which the victim replied by stepping back with his hands up. They told deputies Duhart chest-bumped the victim again to which the victim apologized. They said Duhart then punched the victim in the face, who fell backwards and hit his head on the cement. They said Duhart then climbed into his truck and fled the scene.

Investigators say they spotted the truck in Panama City after a description of Duhart's vehicle was sent to all local law enforcement. He arrested Duhart, who was charged with felony battery.

Deputies say the victim is in a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
