Man arrested after crash accused of hitting deputy

DESTIN, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Deputies say a man who had no driver's license and was driving impaired on Highway 98 in Destin hit another car. They say he then hit a deputy.

Okaloosa County Sheriff's Deputies say Angel Santiz Lopez, 26, of Santa Rosa Beach, is charged with DUI with property damage, driving without a license, resisting arrest with violence, attempted escape, and aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer.

Deputies say Santiz Lopez hit another vehicle so hard, his went airborne.

They say on the way to booking, Santiz Lopez was able to get one hand free from his handcuffs. They say he used the handcuff as a weapon and hit the deputy in the mouth, knocking a tooth loose.

They say the deputy was forced to deploy his Taser on Santiz Lopez.
