SPRINGFIELD, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - We now know the identity of the man killed in an officer-involved shooting Thursday.
Springfield police say Marvin Green, 50, was killed at a home on Bob Little Road just after midnight. They say they'd gotten a call from someone in the home saying Green was getting a gun, and her mother was still inside.
When police arrived, they say they heard a woman screaming and when one of the officers tried to go in the front door, Green raised a gun towards him. The officer shot Green, killing him.
EMS responded minutes later but were unable to revive Green.
The officer was placed on administrative leave with pay, as per protocol, while the Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigates.
