PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - While reconstruction of Panama City's Martin Theatre has been slow going, officials say they are taking steps toward starting the work as soon as possible.

On Tuesday, city commissioners voted to reject all bids to repair the theater's exterior but that doesn't mean the project is coming to a halt.
Although the majority of the bids exceeded the city's budget, City Manager Mark McQueen admits the initial specifications could have been more clear.
"The intent is to get on with the exterior facade as soon as we can and then work on the inside of the Martin Theatre and looking at new configurations so that we can have multiple purposes for that great facility that we have downtown," said McQueen.
McQueen anticipates entertaining new bids for the exterior construction in the next two to three weeks.
