Mexico Beach construction not slowing down amid COVID-19 outbreak

MEXICO BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Mexico Beach is still undergoing a lot of repairs but officials say despite concerns over COVID-19, construction is not slowing down.

Mayor Al Cathey says coronavirus may cause fewer workers to be in the city.

But, he says he has not noticed any added delays to any construction projects.

He says they are staying mindful of COVID-19 as they move forward with future projects.

Mayor Cathey said, “I think it’s just got people very cautious. The building is still strong, permitting is still strong.”

The city announced earlier in the week the lobby at City Hall would be closed for the time being.
