Good Monday morning everyone!
Meteorologist Ryan Michaels showing us what our weather headlines for the upcoming week are.
It's a quiet start on satellite and radar for the Panhandle this morning. But there is a small bank of clouds on the coast that's leading toward a warmer start than compared to where skies are much clearer out the door right now inland and along the I-10 corridor.
Coastal temperatures are starting out in the upper 70s while inland areas are much more comfortable in the low 70s to upper 60s. While there may be a small cloud bank on the coast to start the day, we should all get to see our fair share of sunshine. Inland areas just may get more sunshine to start the day, but that will also lead toward those areas warming up much quicker. Highs today should reach the mid to upper 90s inland with highs on the coast in the low 90s. Dew points are looking a bit sticky hovering around 70 degrees, so we may all feel a bit more like the upper 90s this afternoon.
More heat and sunshine lie ahead in the forecast for NWFL especially through the early week. However, a weak frontal boundary will try to move in Wednesday night and that could spell a heat break for the late week and weekend. We won't have much of a rain chance as the front moves through but temperatures are looking to drop into the upper 80s in the afternoons to upper 60s in the mornings from Thursday on into the weekend.
There's a tropical wave in the Atlantic with a likely 80% chance of development in the next five days. But at this time it does not appear to be much of a threat to the US.
Humberto is spinning off the Southeast US East Coast and likely will continue its trek east away from the Continental US, possibly skirting by Bermuda by Thursday.
Also, an upper level low is spinning up some showers and thunderstorms in the Western Gulf. Development chances are very low and regardless of development, we're expecting it to bring heavy rains to the Texas Coast.
For today, mostly sunny skies with a bit more sunshine for the afternoon. Otherwise hot and a bit humid with highs near 92° on the coast to 96° inland with feels like temperatures in the upper 90s. Your 7 Day Forecast keeps us running fairly hot and dry all week, with only minor chances for rain at the end of the week where we may see a little break in the heat.
