Good Monday morning everyone!
Meteorologist Ryan Michaels showing Monday's forecast highs for NWFL.
I hope you were able to make the best of your weekends. The weather certainly cooperated if you found any outdoor activities to do while practicing social distancing. We're off to a very similar start this morning to what we had Sunday morning with a mostly cloudy sky. There's also a bit of patchy dense fog in some spots. But it doesn't appear to be a widespread issue this morning.
Otherwise, temperatures are pleasant in the low to mid 60s. It'll take a few hours before we can get a little sunshine to peer through the mostly cloudy start. We'll eventually make it to partly sunny skies through the midday and afternoon helping to push temperatures back into the upper 70s near 80 on the coast to low 80s inland for daytime highs.
A weak frontal boundary remains draped across the Southeastern states to our north in GA, AL, and MS. Along this front to our north will be the better chance for showers and thunderstorms to develop. However, a few may spring up in South Alabama or areas around and north of I-10 in NWFL. It's a very small 20% chance we see something develop in these locations this afternoon. And if we do, they should be small and rather short-lived, as the lack of accumulating rain continues during the month of March.
This stalled out front remains in place through the early week and we'll remain with a lack of significant rain with a 10-20% chance through Wednesday. Upper level ridging returns to the forecast for the late week, and by Thursday and Friday we'll see our skies show more sunshine under this ridge.
It will also lead toward a big time boost in our afternoon highs, especially for those away from the Gulf Coast. Highs by the end of the week for those north of Hwy20 will have a shot at reaching the upper 80s near 90° while the coast even reaches the low 80s.
For today, mostly cloudy skies turn partly sunny by the afternoon with highs today in the upper 70s near 80 on the coast to the low 80s inland. There's a small 20% chance for a brief shower or weak storm to develop along or north of I-10 in the afternoon. Your 7 Day Forecast keeps us running with small and insignificant rain chances through the early week with a big warm up inland by the week's end.
