Good Monday morning everyone!
Meteorologist Ryan Michaels showing this morning's scattered storms in the Southeast.
It's finally an active morning on satellite and radar with an area of low pressure and a cold front moving in from the west. We've already seen a wave of diminishing showers and rumbles of thunder pass through overnight. And it looks like round two is developing out to our west. We'll expect to see a couple rounds of passing showers through the day today. But certainly not a non-stop all day type rain.
Otherwise, it's mild with temperatures near 70 degrees this morning. With the passing showers and some thunderstorms we'll see mostly cloudy skies throughout the day. Both will help keep temperatures from becoming overly warm today with highs reaching up to around 80°.
While we'll have some rain around today, it won't amount to much more than a quarter inch for most, in some pockets we could see up to a half inch. This system slides out to the east tonight and tomorrow.
Thanks to this cold front and low pressure system, we'll see our temperatures in the early week remain rather seasonal in the low to mid 80s. Soak up as much of that as you can, because the end of the week looks like another scorcher!
Our next chance for around an inch of rain arrives Wednesday.
Tropical Storm Arthur has 45mph winds and is just off the coast of the Carolina's this morning. It'll come close to making landfall around the Outerbanks before heading north northeast and out into the Atlantic. Minor flooding and some coastal surf concerns are all that's expected.
For today, mostly cloudy skies with scattered showers and some rumbles of thunder passing through. Rain chance is around 60% and highs today only reach up to about 80°. Your 7 Day Forecast keeps us running pleasant through Tuesday and mostly of Wednesday where we'll see a return of some showers and thunderstorms.
