More businesses looking for fall employees

WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Coming off the summer season, a lot of local establishments tend to slow down and cut back on staff, but that's not the case for all businesses.

With less of a shoulder season, many businesses are keeping year-round employees, or looking to hire more during what used to be the typically slow months.

"So typically, we absolutely slow down on our hiring process. Shades, being a sports bar, we do hire for the off season. But since we are opening up the new restaurants soon this will be the first time we are hiring a lot of people," said Shades Bar & Grill Director of Operations, Steven Sapp.

From cooks to servers, bartenders to managers, those who work in the service industry have more fall job opportunities than ever before.

"So we're expecting to get everybody that are laying off people. Also, potentially people who are moving or relocating to the area. We're hoping to find anybody and everybody who is willing to work," Sapp added.

Shades Bar & Grill at the corner of Highway 98 and 30A will be hosting a job fair Monday and Tuesday to help staff two of their newest restaurants.
