The city is in discussions to purchase a property near the corner of Magnolia Avenue and 10th Street known as "Independence Village".

Panama City mayor Greg Brudnicki said the goal is to demolish the current structures on the property in order to build workforce housing.

Brudnicki said the plan is to build twelve housing units.

”So to have them right there in the middle of the city and to have something nice to replace something that’s not nice is a win-win,” said BrudnickI.

He added that he hopes to see the deal done by middle of April.
