NAMI celebrated the grand opening of an activity center in Panama City. It's a place that offers everything from mental health classes and support groups to cooking and art classes, all for free.
Friday, folks were treated to some good food, met some friendly animals and learned more about mental health services in our area.
"We wanted to focus on just the well-being and the mental health of individuals who are diagnosed with mental illness or maybe their family and friends. Just those who need support and we want them to know that they're not alone,” said NAMI Bay County President Georgena Dopyera.
Officials say they've partnered with the Department Of Children and Families, United Way and other local agencies to offer even more services to the community. They plan to start the activities on February 10 and they will be open three days a week.
