PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - After years in the making, plans for the new Panama City skate park are rolling into fruition.

Panama City has awarded a $230,000 contract for the design-build of the new skate park to Newline Skateparks.

It’ll be located on the southeast corner of Jenks Avenue and 6th Street.

City Manager Mark McQueen said this project is one of the ways the city can improve its quality of life within the city as they continue to rebuild after Hurricane Michael.

”What this company has done is looked at doing town hall type meetings, focus group meetings, to gather people together to get their input. We’ve got a very vocal skateboarding community that really wants to have a place to skate,” said McQueen.

He said the hope is to have the skate park built by the end of this year.
