SHALIMAR, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A Walton County man says he was just trying to do a good deed when he was robbed at gunpoint.
Okaloosa County Sheriff's officials say the victim was approached at a Tom Thumb in Shalimar by a man claiming to be homeless, hungry, and in need of a ride.
They say on the way to a restaurant the passenger told the driver to pull over in a parking lot, then pulled out a gun and demanded money. The robber then reportedly ran off after an employee at a nearby business came outside.
Local schools were put on lockdown while police searched for the suspect. He's yet to be found.
