Bay County Sheriff's officials say there has been an overflow in information coming to them about the homicide case, and it takes time to track down every lead.

"This case has got more information funneling in that we are having to vet out. And it doesn't matter how minor or simple, that tip or that lead or that phone call or whatever to us that comes in. It may not seem like a lot but we have to go run it down," said Captain Jason Daffin, with the Bay County Sheriff's Office. "So, that takes resource after resource."

What we know so far: There were three black male suspects, and possibly a fourth, who shot and killed Edward Ross in his home.

Captain Daffin also says the incident doesn't appear to be a robbery, but rather a possible hit.

Investigators are following up on leads which show Ross has contact with many different people.

"I think it is common knowledge that he dealt in marijuana and dabbed. Those are the two things it seems he was dealing in. That being said, as we are doing this investigation, it is a lot of individuals that he was dealing marijuana and dab to," Captain Daffin said. "And when you have that many people that he's dealing with, it's a lot of different people we have to do research on that we have to run down information that comes in."

Captain Daffin says they do have persons of interest.

"We are just having to go through a lot of information and a lot of leads, to get to the point where we need to address that, but we do have some persons of interest still at this time in regards to the investigation," Captain Daffin said.
