PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The Panama City Beach Sports Complex had its soft opening Monday, and it wasn't exactly a home-run.

The park isn't completely finished, causing some unpreparedness.
"Not everything's open, but again, everything is coming together and everybody's really excited," said General Manager of the Panama City Beach Sports Complex JD Wood.
There's a lack of grass and cover, along with unpaved walkways, but officials remain positive.
"Hopefully it'll just be a few more days and we'll get everything, the concession stands up and operating and everything just like it's designed to be," said Executive Director of the Bay County Tourist Development Council Dan Rowe.
Steps were taken to make up for the lack of concession stands.
"The concession stands are still...the final touches are being put on those, so until those are complete we do have food trucks out there," said Rowe.
They say they've spent weeks preparing for the opening.
"I definitely can tell you that there's been 24 hours a day for at least the last couple weeks, everybody putting in time and working and just doing anything and everything to show what Panama City Beach is all about," said Wood.
And say they are prepared to work overnight to get everything done, starting at six p.m. when the park closes and even working on it during weekends.
"As we continue to work on doing the final touches to the park, it will continue to improve all the way until we get into the fall when it will be completely done," said Rowe.
Officials say they know there's still much to be done, but say the first day went great.
"We just appreciate everybody being a part of this opening, and continuing to work with us, and being understanding, and just know that we're excited and the most important things are people out here coming to the community, playing on these fields," said Wood.
A dirty start to a softball-filled week.
