BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - One local school district is taking its healthcare into the future.
Bay District Schools is contracted with PanCare for school health services.
PanCare introduced Edward Clifton as its new Telehealth Director during Wednesday morning's School Health Advisory Committee, or SHAC, meeting.
The program will be seen at Cedar Grove and Lucille Moore elementary schools this year. It connects students with healthcare providers over a secure video conference connection.
"Well, our goal is to fill a void for our students that have healthcare needs, decrease absenteeism in schools, basically more seat time," Clifton explained.
A nurse will be on site with the student while being guided virtually by a healthcare provider on the other end of the conference.
