Panama City Fire Department responds to early morning structure fire, no injuries reported

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - No injuries were reported following a structure fire in Panama City Saturday morning.

The Panama City Fire Department responded to a home on East 9th Court around 3:30 Saturday morning.

Responders encountered heavy smoke and flames when they arrived to the home. Bystanders told them no one was inside the structure.

Fire officials said they were able to extinguish the flames and the American Red Cross helped displaced residents.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but the fire department would like to remind people to be careful when using space heating equipment and to make sure smoke detection devices work.
