The new trucks are expected to arrive in mid March. The total cost is about $718,000, and will be paid off over the next six years. City and fire officials say this will help crews better respond to the needs of the community.

"The number one priority of the city is to keep people safe, keep them from being defrauded," Panama City Mayor Greg Brudnicki said. "Well, one of the ways you keep them safe is you make sure you got proper safety equipment to keep them safe, so there's a constant need for updating equipment."

Fire officials say they'd like to establish a reserve account to fund future purchases.
