Plans are moving forward for construction of the Titus Road extension project near Highway 231.

The project is currently in its engineering phase.

On Tuesday, county commissioners began the first phase of the project by agreeing to reimburse the St. Joe Company $484,000 for the land that was donated.

"The intent really is to alleviate a lot of the traffic that's there on 231 and the Deer Point Dam Road where that connects. If you live up that way you see definitely in peak travel time that connector there is really bad," said Commissioner Keith Baker.

No specifics have been released yet on the project's timeline.
