BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Repairs are still happening at the Bay County Sheriff's Office Jail more than a year after Hurricane Michael.
Wednesday, Bay County commissioners approved work for more repairs at the Bay County Sheriff's Office Jail. (WJHG/WECP)
Bay County commissioners recently approved the repairs totaling more than $300,000.
More than 60 rooftop HVAC units had to be replaced among other things, but now that repairs and installation are nearing completion they will require testing, adjusting, and balancing.
Sections of security fencing surrounding the jail were also damaged by the storm and still require repairing.
Commissioner Keith Baker said, "We all make mistakes and they're there for a reason but certainly we need to provide the same services that we would have in our buildings so yeah I think it's necessary."
Commissioners say the project will be submitted to FEMA for reimbursement.
