Resurfacing project underway in Panama City

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Several streets in Panama City are getting a facelift thanks to a resurfacing project.

Crews with CW Roberts Contracting, Inc. started milling and repaving College Avenue and North Palo Alto Avenue from Business 98 to 6th Street Wednesday.

They will work on seven other streets during the next few weeks. Manhole and water work is scheduled for April.

Here's the tentative construction schedule, weather permitting, for the rest of the month:

March 14- College Avenue and North Palo Avenue from Business 98 to 6th Street.

March 15 - College Avenue and North Palo Avenue from Business 98 to 6th Street and East 8th Street from Massalina Drive to Hamilton Avenue

March 16 - Hillview Circle from Woodmere Drive to the dead end and Camelot Circle from Harrison Avenue to the dead end.

March 19 and 20 - Fairmont Drive from Cascade Street to Jenks Avenue

March 21 and 22 - Drake Avenue from 12th to 14th Street

March 23 - 13th Street from Chestnut Avenue to Wilmont Avenue

March 26 - Lombardy Avenue from 19th Street to 20th Street

March 28 - Palo Alto Avenue Alleyway

March 29 - Cherry Street Alleyway

March 30 - 16th Street Alleyway

Officials urge residents not to park on these streets during construction.

Drivers should watch for flagmen who will guide traffic through construction ones.

Part of the project is being paid for by $72,000 in the Housing and Urban Development fund. More than $250,000 is coming from the General Fund.
