Rescued bottlenose dolphin, Samira to remain at Gulf World

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - After more than two months of rehabilitation at Gulf World, Samira the bottlenose dolphin has been deemed non-releasable and will remain at Gulf World.

Officials announced this after determining she is too young and too mother-dependent to be released into the wild on her own.

The National Marine Fisheries Service has named Gulf World as Samira's permanent home. Employees at Gulf World are slowly introducing Samira to her new dolphin family.

Most importantly, she is happy and healthy.

Gulf World has been taking care of Samira since early October after she became stranded near Okaloosa Island after Hurricane Nate.
