PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Big idea's are turning in young minds at Gulf Coast State College and Panama City's FSU campus.

Saturday on both campuses the second Invention Convention and STEM Open House were hosted.

There, inventions by area middle school to college students along with some other organizations conducted tours and demonstrations throughout the day.

The event features hands-on, family-friendly activities and exhibits geared to spark an interest in stem education and careers.

"We gotta be concerned with the future. We have to spread this program and make sure these young people can get involved and replace us cause eventually we're not gonna be around and we hope they can pass it on as well," said Zachariah Henderson, who works on unmanned vehicle systems.

The day ended around 5 p.m. with a block party including concerts and fireworks.
