At Tuesday's county commission meeting, board members approved a grant to convert the septic tank system to a sewer system near the coastal dune lakes.
The grant is from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
Environmental Coordinator Melinda Gates says this new sewer system is going to help both residents and visitors to Walton County.
"When we have good water quality within our coastal dune lakes, we have a resource that we can do so many different recreational activities on, including boating and kayaking and enjoying and fishing those lakes," said Gates.
The grant award amount is about $253,000.
