Bay County Sheriff's Office donating items

LYNN HAVEN, Fla. ( WJHG/WECP) - The Bay County Sheriff's Office had more to give than just protection on Saturday.

BCSO had piles of clothing, non-perishable food, toiletries, and many other essential items to give away on Saturday.

The donations weren't supposed to be handed out until 10 a.m., but so many people gathered there early to get the items, BCSO allowed people to start taking things at 9 a.m.

"It had been donated from other agencies and businesses and cities across the southeast really, mainly the state of Florida, they had sent them to us for our deputies and employees because we needed supplies for our guys and ladies. And so we are pretty stocked, right now, so we still had a lot left and Sheriff Ford felt it was appropriate to share our blessing with the rest of the community," said Bay County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Ruth Corely.

The donations were available at BCSO until everything was gone.
