OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The Mid-Bay Bridge in Okaloosa County is now open to more vehicles, but some restrictions still remain.
The Florida Department of Transportation said Phase One of permanent repairs to replace eight post-tensioning tendons, which are prestressed steel cables inside the bridge that reinforce concrete, are complete. They say crews will continue maintenance and do not anticipate lane closures.
Vehicles that are oversize and overweight in excess of 80,000 pounds (40 tons) on the Mid-Bay Bridge are still restricted.
