PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A swimming advisory has been reissued for Watson Bayou after approximately 1,800 gallons of raw sewage was spilled.

Health officials say a repair completed on a gravity line main in the storm water ditch came apart which caused the sewage to empty into Watson Bayou.

According to health officials, sewage contamination of water can expose swimmers to intestinal viruses, bacteria, and parasites.

The Florida Department of Health in Bay County advises against swimming in Watson Bayou until further notice.
