Good Friday morning everyone and TGIF!
It's another quiet start on radar this morning with relatively clear skies on the coast. However, a different story is shaping up for those north of Hwy20. Fog is an issue for those up along I-10 and into the Wiregrass of South Alabama. That may also lead to a bit of cloud cover as the day gets under way and the fog lifts out through 8am.
Otherwise, it's a fairly mild and muggy morning on the coast with temperatures in near 70 and mid 60s for those away from the coast. The onshore breeze in place on the coast will keep the fog from developing. But it is a warmer start because of this.
Yesterday, Crestview reached the 90 degree mark for the first time this year. Today, we'll have another go at it inland this afternoon, and once again I'll be looking toward the Tri-State cities away from the coast as they topped out at 89° yesterday. Coastal temperatures due to the relatively cooler Gulf waters, only reach the low 80s. But just to the north side of the bays, upper 80s will be possible.
High pressure sticks around in our skies today, stacking up aloft as well with very dry air in the upper levels of the atmosphere. That brings us more mainly sunny skies today, and mostly sunny skies through the weekend as we watch another frontal system weaken before it makes much impact on our NWFL skies. There's a less than 10% chance of a stray shower inland late Sunday afternoon or evening. We'll have to wait till the end of March next Tuesday before we see our next shot at rain.
With the mostly sunny skies this weekend and ridging remaining in place we'll see similar temperatures to what we have today with 60s inland in the mornings to near 70 on the coast, and upper 80s to near 90° inland to low to mid 80s on the coast for afternoon highs. We'll see this heat finally break heading into midweek next week as highs return to the 70s for the start of April.
For today, a little fog and clouds inland with mostly sunny skies on the coast turning mainly sunny for all by the afternoon. Highs today reach the low to mid 80s around the coast to near 90° inland. Your 7 Day Forecast keeps the warmth and dry skies around through the weekend with Tuesday our next best shot at rain next week.
