The race is a qualifying run for the Boston marathon.

There was a full 26-point-two mile marathon, a half marathon, a five-k, and a kid’s fun run.

Event organizers said people from around the country came to Panama City Beach for this race.

"It's always great to get visitors here to come see our destination, experience Panama City Beach, and especially in December when the season's a little bit slower,” said Kristopher McLane, Event Organizer of the Panama City Beach Marathon.

In all, more than 1,000 runners signed up for the Panama City Beach Marathon.
