PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Dr. Tim Kitts is out as the principal at Rising Leaders Academy after seven months in the position.

The letter sent out by the Board of Rising Leaders Academy Tuesday night to parents.

The Rising Leaders Academy Board of Directors sent out a letter to parents of children at the Panama City charter school Tuesday night. The letter stated that Dr. Suha Jaber, the founder and former principal, will assume the position as principal of RLA, effective Wednesday, February 7th, 2018.

The school's board president, Dr. Ahmed Rezk, said Kitts is no longer employed by Rising Leaders, but the board is still in the negotiating process with him.

"There is a lot of information we're still studying, at this point we're still investigating what's going on," Dr. Rezk said.

The board made the decision Monday night, and the email was sent out the following day to parents.

Dr. Kitts had previously resigned in March of 2016 as CEO for Bay Haven Charter Academy, amid sexual and religious discrimination accusations.

Dr. Rezk said he's unaware of any claims of sexual or religious harassment against Kitts during his tenure at Rising Leaders Academy.
He said when they hired Kitts in July, they didn't have enough information regarding the previous allegations at Bay Haven.

"We didn't have this information at hand when Rising Leaders made the decision to hire him, and we don't know if any of this information is true or not."

Right now, Rezk says the main goal is to remain focused on the success of the children at Rising Leaders Academy.

WJHG/WECP reached out to Dr. Kitts. We have not heard back at this time.
