Good Tuesday morning everyone!
Meteorologist Ryan Michaels says better rain chances remain to our north today.
It's a relatively quiet start on radar with just a passing sprinkle or light shower moving through, stray in nature for NWFL. Otherwise, we have cloudy skies and patchy dense fog for the morning drive. A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 8am CST. So give yourself a few minutes extra out the door if you're commute gets going before then.
Temperatures are fairly mild and dew points are definitely feeling more muggy as both are in the 60s to get the day started. A light jacket would do you well if you're susceptible to feeling chilly. I'd say leave the umbrellas at home today as we're not expecting much more than a brief stray small shower possible through the day today.
A warm front lifts to our north today, and as it does so we'll still see temperatures rise into the 70s this afternoon. Better lift for rain along the warm front lies to the north over MS, AL, and GA. In the warm moist southerly flow south of the warm front, we're still working with a buoyant atmosphere and a stray shower can't be ruled out. But better rain chances lies ahead in the forecast as the cold front with this system slowly sinks south into late Wednesday and Thursday.
Rain chances fall around 20% today, but go on the rise to around 40% Wednesday with some scattered shower activity. The cold front moves through on Thursday and that will be the most likely day for NWFL to deal with rain. At this point, it appears the front will begin moving in starting in the Western Panhandle into the afternoon, and encompassing most of NWFL by sunset with rain.
The good news is it all clears out by Friday with skies gradually turning sunny into the first part of the weekend. However, we will notice a cool down as highs struggle to reach 60 degrees both Friday and Saturday.
For today, cloudy skies after morning fog with a small stray rain chance around 20%. Highs today remain mild in the low to mid 70s. Your 7 Day Forecast keeps us mild for tomorrow with just a slightly better chance at a scattered shower; rain is likely by Thursday.
