Two loggerhead sea turtles released back into the Gulf

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Two Loggerhead Sea Turtles are now back home where they belong.

The first turtle, named Gamora, was brought to Gulf World Marine Institute in May from Walton County. She was seen struggling to dive in shallow water. Experts later found that she had problems in her gastrointestinal tract.

She was medically cleared and released into the Gulf Wednesday morning.

Another turtle was also released. His name is Taserface. Taserface was accidentally hooked by a fisherman at the county pier back in June. He was placed on antibiotics and monitored closely by the Gulf World Marine Institute.

Officials say he developed a strong appetite and is now swimming normally. He was also medically cleared and is back in the Gulf.
