Two men accused of defrauding a local trucking company

LIBERTY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Two men are facing fraud charges after investigators say one of them was collecting pay checks for two jobs, but was only working at one of them.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement, along with the Liberty County Sheriff's Office, investigated Glenn Holland, 48, of Hosford, and Gregory Newsome, 59, of Altha, and eventually arrested them on fraud charges.

Investigators say Holland was a manager at a trucking company and his cousin, Newsome, worked for him from February 2015 to August 2018. They say during this same time, Newsome was working as a correctional officer at Florida State Hospital in Chattachoochee.

Investigators say other than getting a paycheck, there is little indication Newsome worked for the trucking company. They say Newsome's time sheets at the trucking company showed him working a day-shift about 60 hours a week while working at the state hospital full time on the day-shift. Investigators say there were about 317 days Newsome reportedly worked at both locations in 12 hours shifts, two times a day. They reported for about 163 days Newsome worked 24 hours a day or more, which is impossible.

The investigators say it appears the cousins were passing money between bank accounts, indicating Holland was getting some money from Newsome while they defrauded the trucking company.

Holland and Newsome were arrested Thursday.
