BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - In Bay County, one man is dead after a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 231 Friday at 6:30 p.m.

Florida Highway Patrol officials say Robert W. Trombello, 62, of Altha, was driving the wrong way on 231. Trombello was going southbound in the inside northbound lane.

Javan Kessell Ward, 39, of Tallahassee, was driving northbound in the same lane as Trombello. Officials say the vehicles in front of Ward swerved and avoided the oncoming vehicle, but Ward did not move in time.

They also say the front left of Trombello's car hit the front left of Ward's. Trombello's car overturned onto its left side on top of him.

Trombello passed away from his injuries.
