PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - If you're in need of income tax assistance, a local United Way initiative may be able to help you.
VITA, or Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, is offering low to moderate-income individuals and families free help with income taxes.
The program, which is run by IRS-certified volunteers, operates out of the A.D. Harris Learning Village at 819 East 11th Street on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. every week through April 12.
Bryan Taylor, President of United Way of Northwest Florida, says it's worth looking into even if you think it's not for you. "Well, I don't want folks to disqualify themselves. People should come to the service, come to the media center at A.D. Harris, talk to somebody there to see if they qualify. Again, it's really important not to disqualify yourself and not just to assume that this program isn't for you," said Taylor.
For further assistance, you can call 850-775-6254.
