DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A Walton County man's life was saved by two people who some may deem unlikely heroes.

Walton County Sheriff's Officials say last week a man dropping off garbage at the landfill on Institute Road in DeFuniak Springs when he suddenly collapsed. officials say two Walton County Solid Waste employees, Tim Castiglione and Richie Price, rushed to the man's side and began CPR.

The men called 911 and continued to administer CPR until Walton County Fire Rescue EMTs and paramedics arrived.

“Call it divine intervention or call it a coincidence,” Sheriff Michael Adkinson said, “but no matter what you believe in, I think we can all agree that these two men were in the right place at the right time.”

They say the man is recovering at a local hospital.

“By their actions, Tim and Richie reflect great credit upon themselves and Walton County and they stand as an example to all of us,” Walton County Landfill Manager Billy McKee said. “This situation reminds us that emergencies can occur when and where we least expect it and those with training can make a lifesaving difference.”
