FREEPORT, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The South Walton Fire Department, in association with Walton County Emergency Management, hosted a drive-thru COVID-19 testing center in Freeport Saturday.
The testing site saw over 100 individuals attend from the hours of 9:00 a.m. to noon. As resources have become more plentiful in regard to testing, the county has stepped up.
"It gives us an idea about what is going on in our community," said Emergency Management Director Jeff Goldberg. "Up until recently, we didn't have the resources to do some of the COVID testing. Now we have the resources, so we're opening it up to everybody, whether you're symptomatic or asymptomatic."
The tests involved oral swabs rather than the nasal swabs, and more testing sites are expected next week.
