PANAMA CITY BEACH,Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Many businesses are complete some “first” in this time of uncertainty, like the Warrior Beach Retreat.

Event organizers tell us the Warrior Beach Retreat had to be canceled due to COVID-19 concerns. (WJHG/WECP)

Organizers are canceling the event for the first time in 10 years.

It’s a non-profit organization allowing combat wounded soldiers and their spouses to enjoy a five day get away on our beautiful beaches.

But in efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19, group organizers say canceling is the safe thing to do.

"This is out of our hands, and we all as a nation need to work together to keep each other safe so it was a decision we needed to make and nobody canceled. Nobody canceled, they knew what was going on, but they had planned to still come,” said Founder and President of the Warrior Beach Retreat, Linda Cope.

Cope says everyone on this trip is invited to come for the fall retreat instead.

They are still looking for a place to host it.
