Wewahitcka High School evacuated after bomb threat

WEWAHITCHKA, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The Gulf County Sheriff's Office responded to Wewahitchka High School to investigate a bomb threat Tuesday afternoon.

Students and faculty were evacuated to the football field for precautionary measures. Buses took kids home early.

“Any threats that hint at the possibility of endangering students or faculty will be thoroughly investigated,” said Sheriff Mike Harrison. “We have zero tolerance for threats made against schools.”

Deputies say a written threat was found on campus.

Bay County Sheriff's Office EOD K9 were on scene clearing the site. Wewahitckha Fire Department and EMS were on standby as a precaution.

No bomb was found.
