Arnold Hoping To Make Some History Friday Against Mosley

PANAMA CITY BEACH, FL (WJHG/WECP) Friday night it will be Arnold and Mosley for a third time this season, with this match being their most important of the season. That's because the winner walks away with the 3A-2 district championship.

Both teams already guaranteed a state playoff berth, but the district champ starts the playoffs at home.

Arnold the two seed, a 9-5-2 overall record. They beat Wakulla in their district semi a few nights ago.

Mosley is the top seed in the district, an overall record of 11-2-2, with two of those wins coming against Arnold. A 6-1 win back in mid-December, then a 4-0 win in early Janaury. So Mosley has the season series, and in fact, the complete series in this rivalry!

"Arnold's never beaten Mosley, since the school was built." says Arnold head coach Danny Griffin. "It's still tough game after tough game after tough game. They're not gonna overlook us, we have a lot of young players, freshman and sophomores, we have five freshman that start. And they're just absolutely incredible, and they know that. So they really have us in their sights, they're not gonna overlook us."

So there is the added pressure of the Marlins never haven beaten the Dolphins, but coach isn't sure which team that adds more pressure to, since not only do the Arnold players want to be the first to beat Mosley...but he says "on the same side, they talk about not being the first team to ever lose to Arnold. So they have just as much pressure on them, probably more so, than we do. But yeah it's not our only goal, but it's a goal. Once we get that off our back life will be a lot easier, and a lot less tense during those games. We tighten up because of the history and we shouldn't. But that's something we've had to deal with now in my, this is my third year of coaching."

That match Friday at Chapman Field/Tommy Oliver Stadium set for 7 o'clock.
