Arnold boys basketball coach steps down

Panama City Beach, FL (WJHG/WECP) The Arnold Marlins are once again in the market for a new ball coach. This time around, it's for boys basketball.

Late Tuesday afternoon Arnold A.D. Rick Green informed us that Bobby Britton had turned in his resignation to Principal Britt Smith.

Speaking to Mr. Smith Tuesday during the Arnold softball game, he told me they wanted and expected coach Britton to coach next season, stressing this resignation was coach Britton's decision alone.

Britton took over the Arnold problem after James Baxley was pushed out of the job after the 2011-2012 season.

In the 7 seasons leading the program, coach Britton's overall record, according to MaxPreps was 56-100!

His best season coming in 2015 when the Marlins were 15-9 with a playoff appearance, they lost in the first round. That his only winning season in the job. The Marlins 12-13 this past season.

Arnold just went through a search for a new football coach, Green and Smith now with the job of hiring a hoops coach. The principal telling me Tuesday he and coach Green will meet with the basketball boosters, decide on the qualifications they want the new coach to meet, then go about advertising the job and taking in applications.
