MIAMI, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Miami Marlins first round pick JJ Bleday is heading south Wednesday night, on his way to Miami.
Bleday's father tells NewsChannel 7 he will soon be taking a physical and his first professional contract seems imminent.
The deadline for teams to sign their draft picks is Friday at 5 p.m. eastern, so JJ and agent Scott Boras are pushing things towards the end of the line.
When he signs, he'll presumably pick up a bonus of more than six million dollars and then be introduced to the media, meet members of the big league team, and head off to his first minor league assignment in A Jupiter about two hours north of Miami.
