PANAMA CITY BEACH, FL (WJHG/WECP) With the start of official fall practice drawing near, two area football coaches decided to get their teams together, to break things up a bit here in mid-July!
Arnold Coach Josh Wright and his Marlins hosting a dual practice Tuesday, followed by some seven-on-seven action against the Bozeman Bucks. These teams, like all teams across the area and state, looking ahead to the start of fall practice in a couple of weeks.
The Bucks first year head coach, Jason Griffin, familiar with the Arnold practice field.
It's where he spent the last two seasons as the offensive coordinator and associate head coach before taking the head job at Bozeman back in February.
Griffin and coach Wright came up with the idea Sunday to let their guys get in some playing time against one another.
"I spent a lot of time out here at Arnold." Bozeman head coach Jason Griffin told us. "I spent a lot of time with some of those kids on the other team. So it's just a real neat experience to come back over here and let our kids compete against each other. Again, like I said the coaches from Arnold and I have a great relationship. We're all good friends, really close friends. There's no bad blood or any animosity. So it's really just a good time."
"Again, a great friendly rivalry and it's been good" says Arnold head coach Josh Wright. "They've extremely improved on their throwing ability. They're throwing and catching the ball, their schemes are good. They're competitive on the perimeter. All their quarterbacks throw the ball well. We hate to see coach Griffin and coach Franzese go, but they're doing great work at Bozeman."
Fall practice officially opens July 30th!
