MIRAMAR BEACH, FL (WJHG/WECP) Changes are now set in stone for the Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic schedule! That event set for this week at Sandestin's Baytowne Marina.

Because of what's expected to be some pretty choppy seas in the Gulf Thursday, ECBC Tournament Director Adam Alfonso and his staff tentatively announced Monday pushing the fishing and weigh-ins back a day.
Tuesday they finalized those changes. Instead of the fleet departing midday Thursday, it will now head out at 7 Friday morning. The forecast calls for the Gulf to lay down by Friday.
So the teams will fish Friday, Saturday and into Sunday with the weigh-ins now moving back from Friday and Saturday nights to Saturday and Sunday.
It's hoped the event will top the record 91 teams that fished last year's ECBC. Hopefully the weather won't preclude that, but one thing is certain, it's times like these that make you realize how important big time sponsors and sponsorship dollars are to an event like this!
"They allow us to bring this event to the level that we have today." says ECBC Sponsor Liason Alex Githens. "Without them we are unable to do this to the extent that we do. We have great companies and organizations like Wind Creek Casino and Hotel Atmore as well as Gulf Coast Yacht Group and Hatteras. We have Visit South Walton backing us locally for tourism development."
"The sponsorship dollars help propel us to the next level." adds Tournament Director Adam Alfonso. "And take the tournament from where it was to where it's going. And especially sponsors just like Wind Creek, the resources that they bring to the table with us as well, help us work together and grow the event as much as we can."
The Saturday weigh-ins will go from 4-9 p.m. and the Sunday weigh-ins begin at 2 and will go until all the boats that are inside the Destin Pass by 4 p.m. have weighed their fish. The awards will be announced about an hour after the final fish are weighed Sunday night.
