SANDESTIN, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Night one of weigh-ins wrapped up Saturday night from Baytowne Marina, for the Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic, but there’s no rest for the 80 teams competing in the ECBC.
"It Just Takes Time" brought in the first blue marlin of the tournament (WJHG/WECP).
Not Saturday and certainly not Saturday morning aboard “It Just Takes Time.”
The first and only blue marlin so far—114 inches—574 pounds—our overnight leader—whether it holds as the best of the tournament remains to be seen, but angler Nick Pratt has the best story his life.
Pratt said, "I had just woken up and about 30 seconds later it hit. There's definitely a lot that goes through your mind, like if the knots are tied good, are the hooks set right, there's a lot going on. It took about an hour and a half to get in. It was an excellent experience. Once it got to the boat we checked the length and we knew it was good, it's once in a lifetime. It's just a relief to get it on the boat."
“It Just Takes Time” hit the water Saturday night—hoping to add to their total at Sunday's weigh ins.
