PANAMA CITY BEACH, FL (WJHG/WECP) It is an event that dates back to the 80's in Panama City Beach. The Ironman 70.3 Gulf Coast, or what used to be the Gulf Coast Triathlon, is moving back to November.
Ironman 70.3 Gulf Coast pushed back from May to November.
The Ironman folks knowing it's impossible to host the race in it's date of May 9thle, have postponed that race to November 7th of this year.
That's the same date as Ironman Florida, so the races will be run concurrently. Race Director Ben Rausa telling me Ironman's been forced to cancel many races, and he's thrilled they are pushing this one back and it can still be a part of our community in the many ways it contributes.
Putting both races together on the same day could mean up to three or four thousand athletes, depending on how anxious are triathletes are to race again. No matter what all this is good news since our area will need all the economic activity it can get later this year!
