Lynn Haven resident heading home with gold after Pan Am Games win

Andrew Adkison, center, celebrates gold medal at Pan Am Games

LIMA, PERU (WJHG/WECP) Andrew Adkison is headed home from the Pan Am Games, and he's toting some jewelry with him. Adkison winning gold in wakeboarding at the Games.

Andrew a 37 year old 2000 Mosley high school alum.

Not only is he competing in the sport, he's also doing some coaches, helping young wakeboarders. And as if his performance wasn't good enough, one of the athletes he coaches, Mary Howell out of Dothan, also medaling in the Pan Am games, capturing a silver medal.

All this success even more remarkable when you consider Andrew his girlfriend and their three year old daughter, were displaced by the storm.

They moved up to the Chipley area while their home in Lynn Haven was being repaired, they moved back into that home ust two months ago. So much of his training towards this gold medal happening while he and his family were displaced and dealing with insurance, repairs and so on.

Andrew flying back home Thursday.
