Mosley football working their 'fins off in the summer

LYNN HAVEN, Fla (WJHG/WECP) - Fifth year Mosley head football coach Jeremy Brown and his 'fins are spending their summer mornings in the weight room and on the practice field.

The 'fins working out every Monday through Thursday between 7 and 10 a.m.

Mosley's averaging about 62 players on varsity right now for the summer with about 25-30 incoming freshman.

Usually by the end of June, they'll transition those 10th graders back down to the junior varsity level and they'll have the whole month of July as a team with the incoming freshman.

But right now gives Brown a chance to get to know his players before the season starts, putting names with faces, teaching players about the program and how it runs.

Brown says his summer football's broken down into three phases.

"We do football specific type drills in the mornings and then we go in the weight room," Brown said. "Then we do some type of work outside whether it be plyometric boxes, latter drills, getting in the sandpit, stations. Thursday is actually our heavy run days. We're going to get going in our first heavy run day. We're going to hit these 12 100's real quick. There's no instant gratification in the summer. You're out here in June and July, and the first part of August busting your rear-end for a game that's three months away."

Mosley hosts Walton in its season opener Thursday, August 23rd.
