Port St. Joe girls basketball falls in first finals appearance

LAKELAND, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - In the program's first ever appearance in the state championship game, the Port St. Joe girls basketball team fell 54-45 on Tuesday afternoon.

The Sharks used three 3's in the first quarter to earn a seven point lead after the frame. In the second and third quarters, the Sharks struggled shooting from the field, handing Wildwood a four point lead at the half that lasted for the remainder of the game.

Teiyahna Hutchinson led the Sharks in scoring with 26 points on 8 of 23 shooting. Brooklyn Quin was the second Shark scoring in double figures, netting 11 with 6 rebounds.

WIldwood was led in scoring by senior Kari Niblack, a West Virginia commit for next season in the NCAA.

Port St. Joe finishes the season with a 28-3 record.
